Tao Thé is the new trendy shop in Saint-Leu.  Being more than a mere tearoom, this warm shop offers a multitude of assets for one to be able to relax at anytime of the day.  From the smell of the incense to the décor, it’s a whole world that has been recreated in order to provide a peaceful moment to each guest.           

Opened in November 2006, Tao Thé tearoom offers a wide range of relaxation techniques to its guests.  At anytime during the day, one is welcome to rest, sample a Chinese tea, read, gossip and even surf the internet thanks to the Wi-Fi connection installed in the siesta room.  Comprehensive and varied, the à la carte menu offers a remarkable choice of the most well known teas, such as the white tea of Grand-Coude. 

 Other delights range from oriental pastries to fruit juices, ice cream and to the traditional coconut tart made every day by Michele, the owner of the shop.  All the products available in this tearoom are made using traditional methods.  The customers can also buy products such as essential oils, books, incense, decorative objects and teapots.

A complete rest

The “shop” of the tearoom also offers exceptional products such as hives (honey, pollen, beeswax candles), Bach flowers (oil extracted from macerated plants, each one works with a different state of the mind or an emotion), semiprecious stones, rock crystal, elixir of chartreuse and of course all the collection of the Taos Magazine which you can refer to. 

Above all, this place is well-known for its Thai and Ayurvedic massage offered by Julie and Véronique.  These two professionals perform specific massages according to the needs and wishes of the clientele along with an aim to give one a sense of relaxation. 

Michèle had the idea of setting up this multi functional tearoom while she was specialising in another field.  “After lunch, I would have given everything to have a nap in a peaceful place, so I decided to open this tearoom,” reveals Michèle.

It’s a true haven of peace where flavour and rest, discovery and sharing of ideas are blended.  Tao Thé is a very original tearoom, like no one has ever seen on the island.  Mind out, once you’ve tasted it, you won’t be able to do without it...
