General advice:

  • Drive carefully along the coastal areas and particularly, drive slowly on roads exposed to swells.

For the sailors and maritime professionals:

  • Do not venture out into the sea.
  • Shelter the boats or remove them from sea.

For the swimmers, fishermen or coastal strollers:

  • Do not swim.
  • Be very careful, do not go by the water edge and mind the rollers (even an unexposed zone, for example the edge of a cliff – can be swept over by a sudden wave stronger than the other ones).
  • Keep a close eye on the children and prohibit them from playing near the sea.

For the inhabitants:

  • If you live near the seaside, safeguard your property against high tide.
  • Close the windows facing the sea.
  • Block up the pipes which are exposed to swells.
  • If it’s necessary, evacuate your premises to go on the upper parts.
