According to the chef of the restaurant, Mr. David Banon, the important thing is to incite the tourists to discover the Creole cuisine, but also to see to it that the inhabitants appreciate their own cuisine, without having to prepare it. “Réunion Island cuisine is not much highlighted, the idea of this restaurant arises to meet the demand of the population” explained David Banon. Although the inhabitants in Réunion Island are fond of homemade dishes, they are pleased to notice that this restaurant offers an exceptional food quality.
Here, no frozen foods, everything is prepared once the customer places an order. This requires a great deal of organisation before the service. Teamwork, coordination, thus it requires a complete know-how. The cooks: Dominique and Sasthène from Réunion Island, work in Reflets des îles since its creation. Since childhood, they have learnt how to cook traditional dishes. No school, no training, only a know-how which is passed down from generation to generation. There are 15 staffs in all, among whom 5 are waiters. They help the customers in their choice. The Reflet des îles is a must visited restaurant whereby you can enjoy delicious local dishes and immerse yourself in the depths of Réunion Island’s soul. The cuisine represents the history and culture of this island.
