On the way to the Plaine des Palmistes, there is no way that one can miss the Cascade Biberon. 220 metres above sea level, it springs out of the cliff. It was named after a Water and Forest (Eaux et Forêts) manager who owned the area. When it is rainy, the flow increases and makes the waterfall even more spectacular. Let’s go for a pleasant and original hike.
.
![]() | It is acknowledged that it rains quite often at the Plaine des Palmistes. Hence there is a dense and luxuriant vegetation.
![]() | The Cascade Biberon is well indicated from the road. The path runs on from the road. The hike lasts 1.5 hour, depending on one’s interest in nature.
![]() | On the walk, one goes right into the middle of a jungle. The track, which sometimes narrows, is made up esentially of rocks and mud.
![]() | There are some obstacles along the way. A little river is easily crossed thanks to the rocks. A few minutes later, we cross the Ravine Sèche, dotted with ponds of clear water. Careful, it sometimes becomes slippery!
![]() | Finaly, we walk along the torrent to the « bassin ». We can hear the roar getting nearer. A last bend and we are infront of a beauty : the foot of the Cascade Biberon. The « bassin » makes you feel like having a swim. However, the water can be quite cold there. The return walk follow the same path.
