Réunion Island abounds in underwater fauna, hence it attracts lots of fishermen.

Big fishes, such as marlins, swordfishes, tunas and sharks can be caught. Many records have been ratified, notably the biggest marlin ever caught. Record held by a woman who fought against a 551kg fish 7 hours long. The prices vary from 60€ to 80€ for half a day to about 110€ for a full day. The best season remains summer although big catch can be taken all year long. Regularly fishing competitions are organized, at the end of which the catch can be bought.
