Introduction : This beach is one of the most beautiful spots of the island. It is very popular with local people and less so with tourists.
Grande Anse is a gorgeous resort which is located on a long stretch of white sand. The only inconvenience is that swimming is quite difficult. It is only allowed to swim in the artificial lake. Please note that swimming is prohibited in the sea because of strong current and sharks.
Being a very trendy beach, it gets busy at weekends and during public holidays. Therefore, it is better to avoid going there during these periods.
Access : From Saint-Denis, follow the direction of Saint-Pierre. After Saint-Pierre, head towards Saint-Joseph. Before you reach Petite-Ile, follow the sign post “Grande Anse” (the road which leads to the right). After approximately 1 km, you’ll reach “La Plage de Grande Anse.”
Parking : Like the other beaches on the south coast, there are also car parking facilities in Grande Anse. You’ll easily find a shady spot to park your car.
Beach : Since only a few local people come here mostly to picnic rather than to sunbath, you’ll easily find a spot on the beach.
The Resort: TThis lovely beach resort offers several facilities such as picnic and BBQ areas, running water, litter bins and a phone booth. You’re sure to spend a wonderful afternoon or a nice day. This destination is really sublime and particularly well-maintained.
