Once at the Etang Salé bridge, you can spot a huge black sandy beach which stretches over 1,5 km.  During windstorms, huge waves break against the shore.  Highly appreciated by the surfers, windsurfers, swimmers, joggers and volleyball players… this is the most beautiful beach of the island for many people.  The protected lagoon near the harbour of “bassin pirogue”, caters for everybody, from families who enjoy calm waters to wave lovers as most part of it has no coral reef and is therefore subjected to heavy swell, particularly in the winter.
