Beaches located between Saint-Leu and Etang-Salé
From the road between Saint Leu and Etang Salé, you can spot small beautiful black sandy volcanic coves contrasting with the other beaches on the western coast of the island. Surrounded by dry vegetation such as chokas and thorny shrubs, these “secluded” beaches of fine black sand are not very popular. Besides, the absence of coral reef and the presence of currents and sometimes, huge waves makes swimming dangerous and therefore, prohibited.
