In October 2006, Maud Fontenoy departed from Réunion Island to make a round-the-world-sailing "against the current" against the prevailing winds and currents. An adventure that has enabled her to exceed her limits, and even more, to nurture her deep-rooted need to pass on hope to others. Setting off not to break the record, but to stand up for her deeply rooted values, it's over 20 000 children that she had dragged up along with her in her dreams and self-transcendence.
The director, Luc Marescot selected three points of view to relate the story of a young woman committed against the winds and currents.
He first looks at the challenge through the eyes of Meaux's children: the toddlers of the teacher, Jocelyne Busson, who for several years, closely share the sea adventures. Every morning for 150 days, they prick off the positions of the monohull L'Oréal on the world map, read her logbooks, bubbled with enthusiasm and also get worried when the boat was gripped by fear.
At the same time, Maud Fontenoy recorded her self-challenge. Several cameras and microphone were fixed up in her monohull. Some powerful scenes that make the audience travels across the ocean, like a crew beside the skipper.
Finally, the film deals with family support and the daily relationship with the land. Chantal, the mother whom Maud daily dictates her logbook and who soaks up the anxieties of her daughter. Roch, the brother and Jacques, the father, are always here to help Maud to resolve a technical problem.
