"Les Enfants du Large"

Featuring Olivier et Cécile de Larochefoucauld - 32 min
Directed by: Véronique Véber - Produced by: Bleu Iroise

A FAMILY OF 5 KIDS SPENDS TWO YEARS IN A SAILING BOAT

On 2nd August 2005, Olivier and Cécile de LaRochefoucauld cast off the Bénodet for a long journey around the South America.  Originally scheduled for 18 months, the project soon extended to 2 years given the distance to travel: over 40 000km.

Two years of planning were required to organise this trip which was primarily a dream: "We wanted to go to exceed ourselves, live freely and take a break from this too stressful daily life.  But, the best part of it is that we felt a pressing desire to try this sea journey experience for a long face to face, side by side, twenty four a day within a limited space to discover a real loneliness, to find ourselves in family, to closely observe our children grow up, find other values in our life, to discover together what we really are far from everything, without the protection (or suffocation) of the society, and find ourselves alone to think, live and act..."
