The Salto Angel is a waterfall of 1000 meters located in the midst of the Amazonian forest in Venezuela. It is the highest waterfall in the world.
The international team composed of 6 best climbers, need only 15 days to complete this climb. Among these adventurers are featured, Arnaud Petit and Stéphanie Bodet, world couple climbing championship (in 1996 and 2000).
Led by Arnaud, the expedition begins with a long navigation in canoes through the meander of Rio Carrao to reach the foot of the waterfall. Under the onslaught of the waterfall whose flow varies in a flash according to the showers, the difficulties follow one another during the ascent: the total moisture makes the rock face slippery and the progression tedious, the foothold are rare and unsafe, the hauling up of the materials rallies the strength of the climbers, the setting up of camps on the face challenges the narrow ledge, food and water must be rationed...
Thanks to an extraordinary proficiency level, strength of mind and a great humility, the team nonetheless moves on. The promiscuity and stress caused by the reduced protections and a precarious safety in addition to the exhaustion which sometimes tarnish human relationship, the team is nevertheless full of humour and patient.
