This 4th Edition of the Adventure Film Festival in Réunion Island will be held from 15th May to 22nd May 2008 in Champ Fleuri Theatre and Luc Donatavec Theatre, featuring 6 film shows. Please note! The programme may change.
Following a serious health problem, Jamel Balhi had to be operated emergently and must again undergo a surgery on the eve of the festival. We give our support to Jamel and wish him the best recovery possible. We'll keep you informed about his health and look forward even more impatiently for the next edition of the festival!
The film, "Ténéré solo" or "le desert d'un bout à l'Autre" will be screened on Thursday 15th May at the Champ Fleuri Theatre and on Tuesday 20th May at the Luc Donat Theatre in the presence of Pierre Schmitt. Pierre Schmitt has delighted the audience in all the festivals where he presented his new film. Thanks to him for having accepted this invitation at a very short notice. You will find the presentation of his film in the "movies" section from the "Festival 2008." As for the rest of the programme, it remains unchanged.
The sea will be highlighted in this new edition, with the wonderful movie of Maud Fontenoy on her round-the-world-sailing, upside down, all alone and against the current from Réunion Island. A film that is particularly moving which switch to sea adventure, followed by the adventure of school kids in a disadvantaged suburb in the city of Meaux, and the support of Maud family. In respect of the children, the message is ubiquitous: "Make all your dreams come true," "Never let anyone tell you that it's impossible," "Never say die." The message has perfectly been decoded by the kids. We also share the adventure of Cécile and Olivier sailed away with their 5 kids for a 2-year trip around the South America.
As far as "big thrills adventure" is concerned, we'll follow a team of six international climbers along the Salto Angel, the world highest waterfall located in Venezuela. We'll also follow the journey of Jean Gabriel and Bettina who left the Siberia to ski in the Arctic Ocean up to Canada, as well as Pierre Schmitt who cross the desert of Ténérée to 700km on foot, alone without any guide nor 4x4 and nor a camel.
The "human adventure" will once again be depicted in the film of Cécile and Lydie who walk 1500km across Madagascar to meet men and women involved in sustainable development projects, local initiatives of hope carriers.
