Coming from Mainland France, both Pascal and Dominique are fishing enthusiasts. We met them on the second day of competition, tired by a day aboard the Kalou Pilé, with heavy swell and a wave trough of four meters. They came back to the harbour, empty-handed, but glad to be in Réunion Island.
Is it the first time that you take part in the Marlin France Cup in Réunion Island?
It's been several years that we come to Réunion Island to participate in the France Marlins. By the way, we met here. We come from Paris. We are members of the sport association of Air France, the sport fishing section. In Mainland France, we fish in Dunkerque, Dieppe, Saint-Valéry and in the lake of Arcachon in Pornichet.... But, it's true we've been adopted by Réunion Island. When we come back, we always feel that we never left.
What do you like most here?
The clubbing atmosphere is really great. The organization is perfect and very friendly. We are warmly greeted. There is a true conviviality. It's not for nothing that we come back every year. We love Réunion Island. How lucky to live here, it's wonderful.
How were your first two days at sea?
The first day was quiet with lots of sunshine. We caught a skipjack that we used in catalina. But nothing bites; these are the hazards of the sea. Today, it's a very hectic day. We thought that the boat was going to dive. Not a bite! But we keep our spirits up, we won't give up. .
Do you have time to visit the island?
Not really. We are here for only ten days. We enjoy being at the beach. We are staying at our friends place, our skipper. From breakfast at 05 00 in the morning and the returns after dinner at 11 00pm, we do not really have time for us.
