Situated in the North-East of the island in the commune of Sainte-Suzanne, in the midst of the sugar cane fields, the Niagara waterfall is a gentle and quiet showcase. It's a dream location for a romantic or family picnic.
It is hard to believe so much the site is quiet: it is found a few hundred meters from the city center. To get there, one should nevertheless pay attention to the signboards which are not always visible when the sugar cane grows taller. If you are going through the city center, you'll come across the church before the town hall located on the left hand side. You just need to drive towards the intersection on the right to get there in a few minutes. The access is easy, even by car: the path has completely been redeveloped up to the foot of the waterfall.
The spot is much popular with families because the lake is quite wide and the water is shallow. Besides, there are many trees along the rivers that pleasantly shade the site and allow
one to enjoy a peaceful moment. One may also notice a few banana trees past the river. All you need to enjoy a delicious dessert!
If you are a fisherman, you can even find your meal without any difficulty on the spot because the water abounds in fish.
The Niagara waterfall which supplies the Sainte-Suzanne River, owes its name to the impressive flow during cyclonic period and looks like a younger sister of the famous waterfalls of Niagara in the United States. The show is exceptionally spectacular, because the waterfall flows from a breathtaking height, around 25 meters. An unforgettable scenery that absolutely needs to be discovered.
