One needs to drive up to Cilaos to enjoy the pleasure of the spa treatments. The Health Spa of Irénée Accot is the sole one in the Indian Ocean. Nestled in the heart of the cirque, at 1220 meters above the sea level and at the foot of Piton des neiges, it enjoys fresh air along with a magnificent landscape, whereof worth is blended with a pleasant time. The nature is generous whereof it shares its gifts. The benefits of the waters have been known for quite some years, one already spoke of it for more than 3000 years before Christ. Man has always sought after the warm waters to treat themselves. The volcanic origin of Réunion Island results in several hot springs, including the one at Cilaos.

The sources at Véronique and Irénée which supply the station are loaded with therapeutic virtues. Being very pleasant, the temperatures vary from 31 to 38°. These are carbogaseous waters with dominant sodium bicarbonate, magnesium, calcium and iron-bearing. The total mineralization is between 1200 and 1700mg/I. Hence, besides this scientific jargon, they all have the characteristics to relieve pains, with two specific aspects: the rheumatology - vertebral arthritis of hands and feet, osteoarthristis of the hip, neuralgia, tendonitis...And digestive illnesses - colitis, irritable bowel syndrome and obesity...

Everyone's well-being

The hydrotherapy truly aids the patient suffering from chronic diseases. It's an added treatment that often complements the traditional chemical ones. The treatments consist of baths, showers, cataplasm and massages...

However, you need not be clients to benefit from the services of the Health Spa. It is opened to everybody. The mere guest can enjoy the same treatment and comfort as the patient. The thermal spring offers an à la carte, packages or a membership services to its occasional guests. Yet, it's better to make a reservation. The institution provides towels and bathrobes. And the prices are as gentle as the treatments. So, why deprive oneself of it...

Renovation of the hot springs at Cilaos

The thermal springs are subject to very high standards of hygiene and safety. Cilaos does not derogate from its rule. The works have been planned since a long time and there was an urgent need to do it. And there we are it's done. The distribution system has been completely renovated. The complex works have required the closure of the spa. The reopening of the thermal spring is scheduled for the end of February. The last details outside as well as inside the hot springs are being polished up to welcome the future patients and guests within comfort and security.
