Zistwar dann kartié : baramine i gingn pa kap kap dovan kap!
Réunion Island and Mauritius stories in Plaine des Palmistes

BramineAre you ready for a trip in the heart of the Indian Ocean?
In this new creation, the Baba Sifon Company brings the oral heritage of the Indian Ocean in the limelight.  It is also pleased to present you an updated version of the traditional stories to the dividing line between cultures and artistic disciplines (story-telling, theatre, poetry, music, song and so on…).

Daniel Honoré translates the intense meaning of “Baramine i gingn pa kappa kap dovan kap!” by: “When one is aware of one’s true merit, one does not fear any difficulty!”  It’s in listening to the lyrics of Baramine that this expression makes sense...
Hence, let’s listen to them!  Come and share this intense trip across the Indian Ocean for a short time and discover the spirit of the “yesteryear parties.”

Everyone knows that since the eighteenth century, the slaves start to run away from their masters to take refuge in mountains whereof they organised a true camp.  But, very often, they were compelled to come down to steal animals, weapons or even slaves women.

Exasperated by these troublesome descents, the owners offer huge rewards to those who will find and kill them.  The most famous runaway hunter was François Mussard, who tirelessly, goes all over the island to exterminate the runaway slaves and as a proof to his masters, bring the right hand of each killed slave.
