Prior your nightclub-crawl in Saint-Gilles, do pop in the Gueule de Bois bar to start your evening.  Its live mini concerts are absolute gems where you're sure to spend a nice evening within a convivial atmosphere. 

The peculiarity of the Gueule de Bois lies in its eighteen meters counter.  Striking!  Thierry, the manager and a pro of evening parties, comes from the Haute-Savoie.  He wanted to have a bar just like over there, totally embellished with a wooden and vegetal design.  It's an airy tropical terrace bar that turns out really intimist at dusk with its subdued lightings.  It's been three years that the Gueule de Bois existed and made its mark within the range of nightclubs in Saint-Gilles.             

A music bar

As from 08 00pm on Fridays and Sundays, the bar resounds with decibels.  Local and international music and amazing live shows are performed.  All musical styles are featured from the salsa to the reggae to the rock'n roll an alternative of the maloya and to the blues.  It's the rule of the bar of not boasting a dance-hall, since there are the nightclubs for this.  However, every time the artists pep up the evening, the entire bar stands up like one sole man.      

Zorteil was present last Friday. A S.J (Sound Jokey) who beats a warm and progressive electro, exquisitely mind blowing but never aggressive.  His distinctive feature lies to the fact that he has neither a recorder nor a computer, he works out the sounds from old equipments, synthesizers and beatbox.  A music which emerges from the heart and soul and that grips us.         

Fernando, DJ Planet, Free Jam, Valentin joli cœur, Hugo's Boss, Bonbon Swing and Family Skrank were also present. 

The best "rum-arrangé"

You can also dine in at the "Gueule de Bois."  The bar offers a metropolitan and Creole menu.  The bar switches to a steak house on Fridays and Saturdays to accompany the music.        

One must absolutely sample it.  The specialty of the barman, Greg is the "rum arrangé."  But, please note, it's the real "homemade," the one which is tasty and has lots of puff.  Besides, it is famous among the tourist guides who make a short break at the Gueule de Bois to sample it.  A wide variety of "rum arrange" is being offered: passion fruit, carrot-lemon, pear-cinnamon, mint, vanilla, ginger and coconut... it deserves well its reputation.
