The “Gite de Bélouve” is a small marvel. It is a sort of colonial house (commonly known as “Maison Créole” in Réunion) which offers an unrestricted view over the cirque of Salazie and Le Piton des neiges. The inn is surrounded by floral life and it is a departure point for marvellous and peaceful walks.
This inn was built by the Forestry Commission and renovated in 1995. The main beautiful house consists of a reception room, a patio (where we have drinks, read the newspaper, chat) and a huge dining room overlooking the mountains and plants. The dormitories and the two double bedrooms (with private shower and toilet) are further away, in the middle of the hydrangeas and white agapanthus (in season in January and February). Plants and more plants everywhere! The shower even has a touch of green design: the shower tray is in duckboard and the shower, in inox.
At least three people will welcome you: Carmen Rosset – the manageress, Aline, a very good cook and Joseph or Bernard.
The inn is usually full at the weekend. There is a good, friendly atmosphere. At night, you will meet other people at the table and thus, become more open minded!
On the other hand, it is quieter during the week: so, if you wish to spend a few days with family or friends or go off on a romantic holiday, and to have the inn (almost) to yourself, choose week days. It is also an advantage for the lazy: you can park your car 200 meters from the inn during the week whereas as from 4.00 pm on Friday, you need to park at 2,5 km. Respecting the forest and its peacefulness are required!
Prices : 14 € per person for 1 night (sheets, pillow and blanket provided), 5 € more for breakfast. Meal : 14 €. Prices of double bedrooms: 34 €. Do not forget to bring your hand towel. Please note : the inn does not accept debit cards.

Access : Carte IGN 4402- RT Cirque de Salazie. Coming from Saint-Denis, drive up to Saint-Benoit; turn to the right in the direction of la Plaine des Palmistes. Turn to the right, there: D55 and forest road. The inn is indicated. When coming from the west, drive up to Saint-Pierre, take the road to Le Tampon, then continues to drive up to La Plaine des Palmistes. Turn to the left there: D55 and forest road. The inn is indicated.
