Open the heavy white shutters of your room and contemplate: the youth hostel of Hell-Bourg, located in the heart of the lovely village, enjoys an unrestricted view on the various peaks of the cirque and particularly on the Piton des Neiges. High ceilings, long corridors, ochre walls outside, classical architecture dating back to the beginning of the century: this ancient residence is the property of the council of Salazie. For several years now, it has been rented by the French League for the Youth Hostels. The Youth Hostels are primarily for groups of youngsters (however, everybody can stay). Therefore, there are no double four-poster beds with private bathrooms but, bunk beds and shared bathrooms. 5 rooms in all: with 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10 beds. However, it is comfortable: the mattress is thick and brand new, the immaculate white cotton sheets, old floor-tile. A 5 star place for 13 or 15€ per person, depending on the season (peak/off-peak) and whether you are a subscriber or not. Do you wish to have breakfast? Add 3€ and if the weather is nice, take your tray and have a seat under the historical terrace, facing the peaks of the cirque. Véronique or Sylviane will serve you dinner on lengthy wooden tables, provided that you inform the hostess the day before. Do not forget to offer your help to clear the table!

Access : By bus: Saint Denis, bus station (tel. 0262 41 09 59) - Direction to Saint André - Saint André, bus station - Direction to Hell-Bourg
By car: Take the direction to Saint Benoît - between Saint André and Bras Panon, turn off to the right towards the cirque of Salazie. At the exit of Salazie, take the road to Hell-Bourg. In the village, turn right, just before the post office. The inn is 60 m from there, on the right hand side of the Cayenne road.
