The beach
Once on the bridge at Etang Salé, you can spot a huge black sandy beach which stretches over 1,5 km. When there is a large swell, huge hollow waves break against the shore. Highly appreciated by the surfers, windsurfers, swimmers, joggers and volleyball players… this is the most beautiful beach of the island for many people. The beach, near the harbour, is protected by a lagoon called “bassin pirogue”. The beach of Etang Salé has something for everyone, from families who enjoy calm waters to wave lovers.

Le Souffleur
Situated Between Etang-Salé and Saint-Leu, le Souffleur is worth seeing. When there is a heavy swell, the waves rush onto the rocks and transform into impressive sprays. One needs to remain in the area which is marked out since the site is quite dangerous. Between Etang-Salé and Saint-Leu.
