Streching over a small patch of coastline right up to the Grand Bénard, at 2896 metres above sea-level, Trois Bassins is certainly one of the most charming communes of the “Hauts” region. Nestled at 800 metres above sea-level, the village is rather off the beaten track. You will get a stunning viewpoint of the coast from the church square where a small open-air market takes place every Saturday. The slopes are scattered with lovely “créoles houses”. Public services are of particular importance in Trois Bassins, which has with a “Cyberbase” (internet access and training) and a library housed in a beautifully renovated building. On the coastline, Trois-Bassins also has one of the most popular surfing and body-surfing spots, which attracts both beginners and experts. Next to it, lies La Souris Chaude beach, which is somewhat monopolised by naturists.
